Specialist clinical negligence barristers providing expert advice and representation nationwide
3PB’s 28-strong clinical negligence team offers specialist expertise across the full spectrum of clinical negligence claims and related areas, including litigation against surgeons and hospital physicians, general practitioners, dental surgeons, nurses and midwives, other healthcare specialists and in claims involving related issues of defective implants, and other medical devices and blood and organ products.
Clinical negligence barristers at 3PB provide advice and representation both to injured claimants and to defendant organisations in cases of varying degrees of complexity and size across a wide range of areas of medical practice such as orthopaedic, obstetrics and gynaecological, general and vascular surgery, cosmetic surgery, anaesthetics, emergency medicine and in general medical negligence and dental negligence.
Members of the team regularly undertake cases involving difficult issues of causation, including multiple contributory factors, missed diagnosis and loss of chance, and are also routinely sought out to undertake high value claims involving fatality or catastrophic injury with the related issues of funding substantial, long term treatment, care, equipment and accommodation requirements, periodical payments and the involvement of the Court of Protection.
Members are also regularly instructed to provide representation at inquests where clinical negligence is alleged. Members of the team act in disciplinary proceedings before regulatory bodies such as the GMC and NMC and members of chambers act as legal assessors to such tribunals.
Representation is offered in matters funded privately, by Legal Aid or CFA, and some members offer direct access to representation. Team members are available to work from any of our six offices in London, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Oxford and Winchester; we also offer state-of-the-art technology for remote meetings.
