Job Description
3PB Barristers (3 Paper Buildings) and our successful and thriving Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence teams are looking to recruit three probationary tenant (3rd Six pupil) barristers to work from any of our six offices – London, Birmingham, Bristol, Bournemouth, Oxford or Winchester. The vacancies are to start as soon as possible, with a view to being kept on in a permanent position as a member of chambers. These opportunities are due to the increasing volumes of work for our team members across the UK. We are also seeking counsel under 10 years too as part of our recruitment.
Successful applicants will be joining an established, successful team with 35 Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence barristers. We will expect you to build an excellent practice as 3PB have an abundance of high-quality work for counsel which will enable you to develop your skills as an advocate, build a large client base and help you achieve your aspirations at the bar and in the wider legal world.
Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate they have developed their professional skills during their initial period of pupillage. They will have excellent advocacy skills, strong analytical skills and great cross-examination ability.
Applicants will be able to demonstrate a real commitment and interest in personal injury or clinical negligence and will benefit from pro-active support and be allocated a member of chambers as a mentor (akin to a supervisor) and work alongside a more junior barrister who will fulfil a similar, but more informal, role. You will be supported by an excellent and dedicated clerking team, as well as all members of chambers.
Probationary tenancies (3rd six pupillages) are unfunded, and the successful candidate will be expected to generate their own income from our caseload. The probationary period will last for up to 6 months, with an option after 4 months to assess progress. Successful applicants can expect to be busy and in court regularly.
