Five 3PB barristers appointed as Recorders on the Western Circuit

3PB Barristers (3 Paper Buildings) is delighted to announce that family barrister Emma HarmanEmma HarmanCall: 2003, criminal barristers Gemma WhiteGemma WhiteCall: 2009 and Jodie MittellJodie MittellCall: 2004 and personal injury barrister Tom WebbTom WebbCall: 2010 have been appointed as Recorders on the Western Circuit. The appointments will take effect as of 30 May 2023. The four are joined by associate member and specialist criminal barrister Kate Lumsdon KCKate Lumsdon KCCall: 1993Silk: 2018. Former 3PB member District Judge Luke Ashby has also been appointed as a Recorder on the Western Circuit.

Emma Harman was called to the Bar in 2003 and appointed as a part-time Deputy District Judge in October 2022. Emma has an extensive expertise in both family law and Court of Protection matters and regularly acts on behalf of local authorities, parents, and guardians, across all manner of complex family disputes.

Gemma White was called to the Bar in 2009 and appointed as a part-time Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ courts) in 2021 and as a part-time First Tier Tribunal judge (mental health jurisdiction) in January of this year. Gemma is a specialist criminal and sports law barrister, regularly taking instruction across all areas of general and regulatory crime.

Jodie Mittell was called to the Bar in 2004, and in 2017 was appointed as a part-time Deputy District Judge, sitting in the Magistrates’ court. Jodie has a busy practice specialising in criminal law and regularly takes instructions on the most complex criminal cases, involving violent crime, drug investigations and animal rights extremism.

Tom Webb was called to the bar in 2010 and was appointed as a part-time First Tier Tribunal Judge in 2019. Tom is a civil practitioner specialising in personal injury and clinical negligence matters, regularly representing both Claimants and Defendants on the multi-track.

Kate Lumsdon KC was called to the bar in 1993, taking Silk in 2018. As an associate member, Kate regularly defends and prosecutes on a broad range of complex criminal and regulatory cases, including violent crime, drug conspiracy and corporate fraud.
