Our Counsel have expertise in commercial disputes arising from the sports sector with particular strength in intellectual property, human rights, and employment.
Chambers regularly advises on contract, commercial and other disputes including in relation to funding, the sale and training of racehorses (including Sales of Goods Act 1979 disputes), disputes between regulators, between clubs and regulators, and between players and club particularly in relation to transfers.
The 3PB sports team have covered areas as diverse as agency contracts; breakaway leagues/competitions; broadcasting and licensing rights; contracts for sports ground and TV advertising; corporate hospitality; copyright (and notably broadcast rights), trade marks, designs, passing off, database rights and breach of confidence/privacy actions; sponsorship and ticketing. Advice on employment issues, for example in relation to contracts between coaches and clubs, is frequently sought and given.
