The Pro Bono Recognition List, published by the charity Advocate, recognises barristers and solicitors who gave at least 25 hours of pro bono legal assistance over the last year and is an initiative begun in 2024 and supported by the Law Society, the Bar Council and all the major pro bono organisations under the aegis of the Attorney General’s Pro Bono Committee. Many lawyers are offering substantially more than 25 hours that and it follows the long tradition of the legal profession in volunteering their time to provide free legal assistance to individuals and charities.
