Leading criminal defence barrister Nick RobinsonNick RobinsonCall: 2006 of 3PB Barristers successfully defended Jurjingo Berisha in a two-week attempted murder trial at Winchester Crown Court before HHJ Morris The Recorder of Winchester.

Mr Berisha was charged with attempted murder following a knife attack in Weymouth in June 2025. Nick’s client stabbed two males in an unprovoked assault. He was charged with attempting to kill one of the males. The prosecution alleged a premeditated attack, relying heavily on compelling CCTV footage showing two strikes. The Crown's case was that following an earlier violent disorder, Mr Berisha deliberately armed himself with a knife and returned with intent to exact revenge.

The prosecution sought to prove an intent to kill through forensic linguistic expert evidence interpreting Albanian language spoken by Nick’s client - captured on Ring Doorbell footage before and after the incident - wherein he said inter alia that he had “slaughtered/killed by cutting” the victim.

Mr Berisha had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861. The Crown elected to proceed to trial on the more serious charge of attempted murder.

The jury returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty to attempted murder. Mr Berisha will be sentenced later in the year for the section 18 offences.
