Overview
Dr Autumn Ellis joined 3PB as a probationary tenant in October 2026 within chambers’ successful Employment and Discrimination Group.
Prior to joining 3PB, Autumn obtained a PhD in Law from Cambridge University in 2025, focusing on comparative public law (French and UK law). She was a Stipendiary Lecturer (2023 to 2026) in constitutional, administrative and European Union Law, at Christ Church College, Oxford University; and was also a tutor in Employment law for the University (2024 to 2025).
Autumn has a very strong academic record and exceptional professional pedigree with major international law firms in the UK. Although no longer on the Solicitors' Roll, having transferred to the bar, Autumn was previously an experienced litigation solicitor having qualified into the Litigation and International Arbitration department of Allen & Overy LLP in 2003.
As a senior associate at Allen & Overy, and subsequently at Addleshaw Goddard LLP, Autumn acted for a range of large corporate and banking clients on high value commercial and financial litigation matters. Whilst at Allen & Overy LLP, she also undertook a secondment to the in-house legal team of a leading international investment bank. Autumn’s previous experience as a solicitor, and working in-house, has given her an insight into the perspective, expectations and requirements of professional clients. Autumn obtained her Higher Rights of Audience in 2012 (Civil) and in 2025 (Criminal). She has also represented pro-bono claimants with the Free Representation Unit in unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal and discrimination claims.
Arising out of her PhD studies and academic work, Autumn has delivered conference and workshop presentations on topics within public law and employment law, including most recently: "An argument for aligning, in respect of unfair dismissal and discrimination claims, the approach to reasonableness and proportionality within labour law and public law" and "Direct Discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief, Higgs and the Bananarama defence: It’s not what you do but the way that you do it."
Outside work, Autumn enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking and swimming.
