Four new family law arbitrators at 3PB

3PB are delighted to announce that four family law barristers - Elaine StrachanElaine StrachanCall: 1995, Peter WilkinsonPeter WilkinsonCall: 2003, Davinia RileyDavinia RileyCall: 2004 and Oliver ThorneOliver ThorneCall: 2005 (pictured here, anti-clockwise from bottom left) - have qualified as family law arbitrators under the Financial Remedy Scheme. The quartet become members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and are now members of the specialist panel of family law arbitrators, managed by Resolution on behalf of the Institute of Family Law Arbitrators (“IFLA”).

Elaine Strachan (1995 call) practises predominately in financial claims on divorce, property claims between unmarried partners  and applications for financial support for children. Elaine also routinely advises on complex trust arrangements, overseas assets and enforcement of orders.

Peter Wilkinson (2003 call) regularly appears in contested cases in the High Court and specialises in matrimonial finance cases, disputed settlements and advising on Xydhias agreements. Peter focuses on helping HNW individuals and those with company, partnership, pension and trust assets.

Davinia Riley (2004 call) specialises in money and property disputes following matrimonial and other relationship breakdowns. Davinia's experience is primarily in high value, complex financial issues often involving trust assets, businesses, multiple-properties in the UK and abroad and inheritance.

Oliver Thorne (2005 call) is a specialist family law barrister who focuses on matrimonial, cohabitation disputes and private law children cases. Oliver is frequently conducting cases with family businesses, discretionary/family trusts, crypto currencies involved and is an expert in cases with enforcement and non-disclosure allegations. Oliver is also a qualified arbitrator in respect of child matters and has acted as an arbitrator under the Children Scheme.

The national chambers produced a three-hour briefing, "Arbitration in Action", giving practical tips on appointing a family law arbitrator and featuring two mock arbitrations covering both financial remedy and children cases.
