Nate Lara joins 3PB's Crime and Regulatory Crime Group

3PB (3 Paper Buildings) is pleased to announce that crime and regulatory barrister Nate Lara, based in Bournemouth, has become a full member of the 270-barrister national chambers after successfully completing his probationary tenancy. Working across Western and South East Circuits as well as nationally, Nate is the latest criminal barrister to become a member of its Tier 1 Crime and Regulatory Crime Team.
Nate Lara has five years’ experience as a specialised criminal law Solicitor-Advocate in Australia. Nate moved to the UK and completed a reduced six-month specialist criminal pupillage, as a transferring lawyer, with a well-known and highly regarded criminal chambers in London, before joining 3PB in March 2025.
Nate has a busy practice handling both prosecution and defence work. As a Grade 2 Prosecutor for the CPS, Nate frequently manages trials, sentencing, and procedural issues. He has experience in cases involving serious violence, hate crimes, sexual offences and domestic abuse amongst others. His recent cases include securing an acquittal at Swindon Crown Court for his client over a bomb hoax and an acquittal at Winchester Crown Court for his client charged with a serious sexual offence.
Nate graduated at the top of his class in criminal law, advanced criminal law and criminal sentencing law, and was appointed to the prestigious graduate scheme at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in New South Wales (NSW), where he prosecuted serious criminal cases. After a successful period at the ODPP, Nate decided to gain experience as a criminal defence advocate across NSW. Nate also acted as a Senior Public Servant in the Compliance, Investigation and Regulatory team at the Australian Department of Health and Aged Care. This saw him conducting investigations and acting as a decision maker on systematic, compliance and criminal breaches in the National Disability and Insurance Scheme and the Aged Care System.
