3PB barrister Sarah Langford publishes book about life at the Bar

Criminal and family barrister Sarah Langford from national chambers 3PB Barristers is to have her first book published by Penguin at the end of the month.

‘In Your Defence – Stories of Life and Law’ is an account of life at the English Bar based around eleven cases that demonstrate the strengths, weaknesses and realities of the UK’s present justice and legal system

Sarah’s book has been praised by critics and fellow barristers as an insightful and moving story of life at the Bar. As well as painting a revealing picture of our justice system, Sarah also captures the very human stories behind the cases.

With remarkable skill and candour, Sarah describes eleven cases which reveal what goes on in our criminal and family courts. She examines how she feels when she defends the person standing in the dock.  She tells compelling stories - of domestic fall out, everyday burglary, sexual indiscretion, and children caught up in the law – that are sometimes shocking and often heart-stopping.  She shows us how our attitudes and actions can shape not only the outcome of a case, but the legal system itself.
