3PB are delighted to announce that Paul Joseph (pictured here) has been appointed as a full‑time Judge of the Senior Courts Costs Office (SCCO).

Paul is one of the UK’s foremost costs specialists. Consistently ranked by Chambers UK and Legal 500, Paul was appointed a Deputy Costs Judge of the Senior Courts Costs Office in 2021. He enjoyed an outstanding practice in chambers with his busy caseload spanning the full breadth of costs work, and including many complex and high‑profile matters for HM Government.

During his time at 3PB, Paul played an instrumental role in the development of 3PB's Costs Team, helping to establish it as one of the leading national costs practices at barristers' chambers. That contribution will form a lasting part of his legacy at 3PB.

The SCCO is responsible for assessing the recoverable costs incurred in litigation in England and Wales as well as costs incurred in Court of Protection and other matters. It is part of the High Court of Justice and is based at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

3PB is immensely proud of Paul’s appointment and grateful for his exceptional contribution to Chambers. As he steps away from practice to take up this important judicial role, his impact on Chambers and the profession will continue to be felt.

We congratulate Paul warmly and wish him every success in this distinguished new chapter of his career.
