18th July 2025

3PB Barristers (3 Paper Buildings) are pleased to announce that Matthew CanningsMatthew CanningsCall: 2006 (pictured here) has been appointed as a member of The Football Association (FA)'s Judicial Panel for a period of 3 years from 1 July 2025.

As the governing body for football in England, in the event of a breach of FA Rules and Regulations they may need to take action. The outcome of the case will often be determined by the Independent Regulatory Commission and Appeal Boards made up of individuals selected from the Judicial Panel. The panel members are selected based on either their legal/regulatory or football experience.

A member of 3PB's Sports Law Group, Matthew’s sports law practice has a particular focus on regulatory disputes and analysis of rules and regulations made by National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and sports clubs. Matthew also has significant regulatory experience in judicial review cases.

Matthew joins fellow 3PB sports lawyer Gareth Graham who earlier this month was reappointed onto The FA's Judicial Panel.
