High-profile inquest concludes with Sunyana Sharma representing family of Mohammed Amin Mukhtar following his murder

23rd March 2026

3PB’s regulatory and inquest barrister Sunyana SharmaSunyana SharmaCall: 2006 was again instructed to represent the family of Mohammed Amin Mukhtar at the recent inquest in Manchester into his death. The inquest followed his murder at the hands of his ex-partner in August 2021. She pleaded guilty to Mohammed's murder and was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 22 and a half years in May 2022.

The inquest explored the role played by multi-agencies in safeguarding and risk-assessing Mohammad from his ex-partner, who was known to be a perpetrator of domestic abuse against him.

The Coroner concluded that this was a complex case and a challenging situation for the various state agencies. In essence, he accepted that there were mistakes made by GMP, GMMH, Probation Service and MCC (IDVA) and the system of safeguarding Mr Mukhtar ceased to function, but that none of these shortcomings contributed to Mohammed’s death. Mohammed was murdered by his ex-partner on 30 August 2021 from ligature strangulation and blunt force instruments in a cruel and callous act. The conclusion given at the inquest into his death was one of unlawful killing.

Sunyana Sharma was instructed by Victoria Moore and Kate Daflon of HCC Solicitors.
