Overview

Toria Holland is a pupil barrister with 3PB who started her pupillage in October 2024. She is working from 3PB's Winchester office and is focused on all areas of family law. Following the successful completion of her first six, Toria is now on her feet and available to take instructions in her own right, both to appear in court and on advisory matters.

She has considerable experience in providing support and advice during relationship breakdown for domestic violence victims from her volunteering at the National Centre For Domestic Violence (NCDV), interviewing clients and drafting their witness statements to support their applications for emergency injunctions.

Having the background of a GDL research project into cohabitant disputes, Toria has analysed cases to construct arguments to gain property rights from non-financial contributions, and has an excellent knowledge of TOLATA disputes.

Toria is a confident advocate, as evidenced through achieving the top bar school advocacy scholarship and the highest mark in the cross-examination exam. She has also a great track record working as an Education Advocate for the Communities Empowerment Network, where a child’s education is at risk and Toria represented parents with excluded school children at Governor Disciplinary Hearings.

A former human rights paralegal at law firm Hickman & Rose in London, Toria assisted clients to secure public and private law remedies arising from malpractice including human rights challenges, discrimination and judicial review. She was also involved with Article 2 inquests, investigating the state’s role in a person’s death and working closely with bereaved families. Prior to this role, Toria spent 3 months in Texas interning with the Federal Public Defenders office helping to defend people facing the death penalty.

Toria has also worked for the Refugee Council as an InfoLine volunteer, interviewing refugees and asylum seekers and signposting them to vital services. Toria regularly worked with an interpreter and also received training in vicarious trauma and communicating with vulnerable people.

Outside of work, Toria is a keen runner and completed her first marathon in London 2024. She is an avid reader and enjoys writing and, including previously writing blog articles for the Hate Crime Unit which addressed recent hate crimes and potential policy changes, for example advocating the inclusion of gender as a protected characteristic.
