Alice Horn and James Hume join 3PB's Construction and Engineering Group

3PB Barristers (3 Paper Buildings) are delighted to announce today that two members of chambers, Alice Horn and James Hume (pictured here), have joined their now 23-strong team of construction and engineering specialist barristers.

Alice HornAlice HornCall: 2022 is a barrister developing a good practice in construction and engineering disputes, and associated professional liability matters, and their arbitration in the UK and internationally. Alice's expertise developed whilst working as a Judicial Assistant in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC) with Mrs Justice Jefford and Mr Justice Waksman. Alice also worked on the high profile case of Providence Building Services Limited v Hexagon Housing Association Limited, which considers the interpretation of termination rights under clause 8.9.3 of the 2016 edition of the JCT Design and Build Contract.

James Hume'sJames HumeCall: 2023 construction practice focuses on Defective Premises Act 1972 claims, Building Safety Act 2022 claims, Building Act 1984 claims, NHBC Guarantees as well as covering the full range of engineering and technical disputes. A former Fleet Air Arm Officer and aviator, James finished his military career as one of the UK's Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) and Counter UAS experts. As a specialist technician, James was required to regularly assist national level contract writing, including infrastructure contracts, to ensure that the critical technical elements of said contracts actually met the requirements.

Commenting on their joining 3PB's Construction and Engineering Group, its new head James Davison said: “It is brilliant to see two colleagues progress from their pupillages in chambers into membership of our specialist Construction Group. Each of them build on the unique experiences they gained before joining chambers and during their court-based pupillage at 3PB. Alice and James have shown that they are are outstanding advocates and advisers and I look forward to seeing them flourish here.”
