Private Law Children
Lola-Rose Avery happily accepts instructions in both private law children and injunction proceedings and has a busy and varied practice in this area.
Lola has gained experience in multiple Children Act hearings at all stages, representing both applicants and respondents from first hearing through to multi-day final hearings and multi-day fact find hearings, including cases involving serious domestic abuse allegations, lack of litigation capacity, implacable hostility, expert evidence and Local Authority involvement.
She also has experience in Family Law Act proceedings at all stages, regularly representing both applicants and respondents in relation to Non-Molestation Orders, and Occupation Orders.
Lola has the ability to explain things clearly and compassionately to clients, whilst also giving difficult advice, where necessary, in a sensitive manner.
Public Law Children
Lola was exposed to Care proceedings throughout her pupillage, including but not limited to ICOs, CMHs, final hearings and Special Guardianship Orders and is frequently instructed to act in public children cases, representing parents and children through their Children’s Guardian.
Lola has a range of experience in this area, including proceedings involving neglect, non-accidental injury, drug misuse and parents/carers with psychiatric/psychological issues.
Lola also has experience in proceedings involving vulnerable clients and where litigation capacity is a live issue.
Lola regularly accepts late instructions to act in emergency hearings and is able to prepare quickly and efficiently when accepting last minute instructions.
Lola accepts instructions in financial remedy proceedings having gained exposure to family finance hearings throughout her pupillage.
Prior to pupillage, Lola qualified as a chartered accountant at KPMG and worked at the firm in their forensic investigations team. Lola therefore has experience in analysing and working with a variety of financial information.
Lola gives sensible advice and is able, where appropriate, to negotiate favourable settlements for clients.
"Lola is one of the brightest minds I have had the privilege to work with."
