On 30th March 2012, two members of 3PB, Ian Lawrie QC and Adam Hiddleston, took part in the sentence of two CEO’s following their conviction for the offence of ecocide at a mock trial held at the Supreme Court on 30th September 2011. See www.3paper.co.uk/newsarticle/528.

Michael Mansfield QC represented the prosecution and the two CEO’s, Robin Bannerman and John Tench, were represented by Adam Hiddleston.  Ian Lawrie QC sat as the sentencing judge.

The sentencing of Robin Bannerman involved the innovative use of a Restorative Justice process under the guidance and mediation of Lawrence Kershen QC, chair of the Restorative Justice Council. www.restorativejustice.org.uk/

Robin Bannerman had his sentence deferred as he had successfully undergone the restorative justice process and arrived at a satisfactory environmental restoration programme with the court.
