David Harris QC appeared for one of the children in Re A (Conjoined Twins: Medical Treatment) in which the Court of Appeal handed down judgment today. The case concerned the legality of an operation to separate two conjoined twins, which would result in the inevitable death of one of them, and raised questions of principle concerning the right to life. It has been reported in The Times, 10/10/00. It has since been reported also at [2000] 4 All ER 961, [2001] 1 FLR 1, [2001] 57 BMLR 1, [2001] 2 WLR 480 and [2001] Crim LR 400.
